Apple AirTag item tracker

If you’re a forgetful or absent-minded person who often can’t remember where you left your car keys or your wallet, you’ll probably be interested in Apple’s upcoming launch.

The concept isn’t new: a sticker you attach to an easy-to-lose item, which connects to your phone via Bluetooth and alerts you when the item goes beyond a set distance from you. Several brands already offer this product, and some even have their own app on the market. However, to compete with them, Apple seems to be working on a new version of this product that improves item location using Wi-Fi and extends its range and communication area. If this is true, the notifications would include a pin with the exact location of your item, and you might even be able to see it through augmented reality.

Although Apple hasn’t formally announced its new AirTags yet, its design (according to leaked information) is believed to be round, like a small disc, with the Apple logo in the center, for a change.

Another interesting feature it could have is that, when an AirTag’s battery runs out, it could send its last location to your phone, letting you look for your item in the last place it was. Also, the batteries could be replaceable, although it’s not yet known exactly how long they’ll last.

If you’re an iOS user, this new Apple gadget could be useful, since by turning on the “Find My” app on your device you’ll be able to locate multiple AirTags, even without a network connection. We hope it will work the same way with other operating systems. Now we just have to wait for Apple to confirm whether it will give developers access, so that here at Pixzelle Studio we can offer it to our clients and build custom solutions for different businesses.
